Following the example of NON, the Aquatic Working Group East Netherlands (AWON) started in 2021. Founders are Jesper Berndsen and Julian Overweg (NICHE). Where NON is housed at the NICHE Foundation, 'cousin' AWON belongs to the RAVON Foundation. AWON has about 50 members. Moregeneral infoand the program of AWON are onRAVON.nl. 

In addition to their own projects, NON and AWON also have joint research activities. The collected observations of both groups are structurally recorded onObservation.nl(Observation International).
